Cattāri Ariyasaccāni. See Four Noble Truths, the.

Catvāri Aryasatyāni . See Four Noble Truths, the.

Cessation. See: nirodha.

Chanda. This is a Sanskrit and Pali word meaning “motivation” or “intention”. It is a psychological factor that motivates action. It can be skilful or unskilful, or good, bad or neutral. In this way it lies at the heart of ethics in Buddhism. See: śīla.

Change. See: anitya.

Clinging. See: tṛṣṇā.

Compassion. See: karuṇā.

Conditioned existence. See: saṃskṛta.

Craving. See: tṛṣṇā.
